Wikimapa

Wikimapa is a virtual map built collaboratively to indentify points of interest and streets that usually are not registered in a map, focusing in low income communities.

Besides the virtual map, the people that live in these communities are building also a mobile application integrated with the virtual map that can map from the location data of the cellular GPS all the “favelas” that were never to be found in any maps.

"Partnering up with Apontador we can show people what we’ve been doing and also providing visibility to the points of interests showing people what these communities are doing, in terms of services and products. Finally putting low-income communities in the map, showing what a wonderful job they’ve been doing all this time" - says Wikimapa.
